‘They’re Fighting!’: Riots Break Out on UMass Campus After Patriots Super Bowl Loss
A riot broke out on the campus of the University of Massachusetts — Amherst on Sunday night after the New England Patriots lost the Super Bowl.
Edward F. Blaguszewski, a university spokesman, told the Boston Herald that 14 people were arrested, including 13 students, for disorderly conduct after campus police fired smoke bombs and pepper balls to break up the mob. He said that over 1,500 people had joined the disturbance.
Police had to use smoke grenades to disperse the crowd and even rode in on horseback.
Blaguszewski added that the commotion was over around 10 p.m. and that the students arrested could face suspension.

Like many Patriot fans I was disappointed that New York won. Like my dad before me we might leave MA, but we are still fans of the Boston teams. Boston and New York both have very loyal fans. Yet, youth today instead of shaking the hand of the winner and go work on improving your game so that next time you win, instead of teh other guy; they riot and act like animals. Why?
Why do young people act like animals and not civilized human beings? Is it because they have not been taught right from wrong? Is it because they have been told that anything goes and it doesn’t matter what you do or who may be hurt, it is just me, me, me.
The decline in American behavior has happen since they took Christ out of the public square. We have Obama who says he is a Christian but yet attacks the Catholic church and trys to dictate what our priests, Bishops and Pope can say or do in our mass. Friday there was a story that Obama’s government told Catholic priests who serve in the military that they were not to read a letter that was read in Catholic churches all over this nation to Catholics who serve in the military. Some brave priests had the courage to read the letter anyway. Will they be disciplined for daring to choose their faith and obeying God’s Laws over Obama’s Laws? For a man who claims to be Christian, Obama sure seems anti Catholic to me.
We must have morals. The reason why we were a great nation was because we were a moral nation. We have quit being moral and we are no longer great. We have become a nation of animals who when our beloved Patriots loose we riot. I am ashamed that Patriots fans would think it is ok to riot.
I stand with the Catholic church and like the Bishops said in the letter, will obey God’s Laws over Obama’s Laws. If they want to arrest and tortue me for choose christ over Obama then so be it.
Jesus says we are to judge a man by his charactor and is actions. Obama claims to be a Christian, but his actions are very clear that he is not Christian but anti Catholic. Today he comes after Catholics tomorrow it could be Prostestants or Jews. If you don’t stand with Catholics because Obama isn’t after your faith yet, what wil you do when he comes after yours. Will there people people to stand up and fight along side of you for religious freedom in this country. This nation was founded on religious liberty of not having the nation interfere and dictate what religions do and believe. Under Obama that is quickly changing. Today it is Catholics, and I believe God is showing us who is a true Catholic who follows Christ and the true Catholic faith, and who is a Catholic in name only or cultural Catholic. One who was born into the Catholic faith, but choose their Progressive Socialist Democrat Party of their Catholic faith and go against what our Pope and Bishops teach us. We all must choose one day who we will serve. Will we serve Christ and the Catholic church if one is Catholic, or will we serve Obama and his man made Laws. I choose God’s Laws over Obama’s Laws. Yet we have so called Catholics who support Obama and their political view over their faith and church.
