Anti-Putin Protest Draws Tens of Thousands
<p>AP</p>MOSCOW (AP) — Tens of thousands of demonstrators on Saturday cheered opposition leaders and jeered the Kremlin in the biggest show of outrage yet against Prime Minister Vladimir Putin’s 12-year rule.
The Moscow demonstration was even bigger than a similar rally two weeks ago, signaling that the protest movement ignited by the fraud-tainted Dec. 4 parliamentary election may be growing. Protest were also held in dozens of other cities and towns across Russia.
Rally participants densely packed a broad avenue, which has room for nearly 100,000 people, about 2.5 kilometers (some 1.5 miles) from the Kremlin, as the temperature dipped well below freezing. They chanted “Russia without Putin!”
A stage at the end of the 700-meter (0.43 mile) avenue featured placards reading “Russia will be free” and “This election Is a farce.” Heavy police cordons encircled the participants, who stood within metal barriers, and a police helicopter hovered overhead.
Alexei Navalny, a corruption-fighting lawyer and popular blogger, electrified the crowd when he took the stage. A rousing speaker, he had protesters shouting “We are the power!”

We must pray for these brave people. They are risking their lives in standing up to Putin and fighting for FREEDOM. To many of us, who were born in America, FREEDOM IS TAKEN FOR GRANTED. These brave souls are willing to die for FREEDOM, while in America, we have many who want to do away with the Constitution and become a Socialist State like Putin’s Russia, and all the other Socialist and Communist nations. Why?
Is it because we in the WEST have become lazy and uneducated? Generations before us were better educated then we are. There is a test that I have seen that was given in Salina, KS public schools around the turn of the 20th Century when my grandparents were Salina’s public schools. This was an 8th grade test to see if they could move on to high school. The questions on that test are so hard and deal with subjects that are no longer taught. PHD’s today couldn’t pass that test that my grandparents had to pass. Chemisty was on that test for 8th grade and today we have high school and college kids who can’t tell you what nation we fought the Revolutionary War against. Who can’t name their Congressman or two Senators. Civis is no longer taught so they have knowledge of how our government is suppose to work. American History is being lost and instead of teaching real Subjects of LEARNING, they get Heather has two moms, and all the other Progressive social justice junk. People in other countries are laughing at us, because while we are fighting in MA of if Santa Claus being allowed in government schools because the state says Santa Claus is a violation between church and state. We have grown adults who are so ignorant that believe that Santa Claus is Christian. While we are fighting about Santa Claus in schools, they are educating their children to be the best they can be with academic subjects. Their children are much smarter then ours.
For the adults who like this person in power in MA, who think Santa Claus is part of the Christian church, I will educate you. Santa Claus is not a saint in the Catholic church. Santa doesn’t mean Saint. While it is true that there is a Saint Nick, it is not Santa Claus. St Nick lived many years ago. He was a good man who loved children and he brought toys to children, but he also helped them in other ways too. Santa Clause became a symbol of that same spirit of love, peace, forgivenss, and belief that we as human beings can be more kind toward each other. To be honest with each other and not lie. To put the other person ahead of you. I know when I am in the store and I see someone behind me with one or two items, and the person hasn’t started to ring my order yet, I alway offer them to go ahead of me. Instead of being nasty to each other, be kind to each other.
We have a generation of youth who believes that capitolism is evil and Socialism in Russia and other Socialist/Communist countries is the ideal system to live under. They believe the LIES as TRUTH. While these brave people are risking their lives to tell the truth, we have a generation who would rather live in slavery then to fight for FREEDOM.
If you are a parent take your kids out of public schools. Homeschool. There are so many resources for homeschooling. There are groups you can join with and get together and learn as a group. Studies are finding that homeschooled kids are more ready for college then those who have gone through the government Public schools. You as the parent be active in your child’s education and not just take everything for granted that your kid is receiving a good education. They are not taught HOW TO THINK, but WHAT TO THINK. They have been taught that everything is for the COLLECTIVE.
