Jobless Benefits Claims Stuck Above 400,000 for 12th Straight Week
WASHINGTON (AP) — The number of Americans seeking unemployment benefits was mostly unchanged last week, evidence that the struggling economy isn’t generating many jobs.
Unemployment benefit applications ticked down 1,000 to a seasonally adjusted 428,000, the Labor Department said Thursday.
Applications have topped 400,000 for 12 straight weeks. Applications had fallen in February to 375,000, a level that signals sustainable job growth. They stayed below 400,000 for seven of nine weeks. But applications then surged to an eight-month high of 478,000 in April and have shown only modest improvement since that time.
The four-week average, a less volatile measure, has been stuck at about 426,000 for a month.

Progressives have had their chance to turn the economy around, but because they are on the wrong path, it is not working. They believe they can spend their way out of the bad economy, but they can’t because it is the out of control government spending that has brought us to where we are today.
Tax and spend is not the way out. We must make those Republicans running stop the spending of money we don’t have, but have to borrow from China, or print our on money which is what we are doing now. Which is only going to weaken the dollar even more.
We must pay back our debt and get the debt payed off. We are very close to becoming like Greece and what is happening in Greece could happen here. There are federal programs that could be cut that would save money and are not really needed. We need to bring the troops home, but Obama has us fighting in 3 wars now. Libya is a war and cost money. the congress funded this Libya War. We need to be willing to make the hard choices and cut both defense and government agencies that are a duplicat of another agency. We must be willing to cut domestice and as well as foreign spending.
Obama spends like we are not in a economic crisis. Taking expensive vacation on the government dime. His wife taking expensive vacations with family and friends which the tax payer if paying for. Many Americans can’t afford a Summer vaction, but are stuck paying for Obama and his family to travel first class to wherever they want to go.
Obama and his wife remind me of the French King and his wife, who didn’t care about the suffering of the people, while they continued to live the fine life. His wife said let them eat cake. Finally the anger was so bad that the people overthrew them and that was the beginning of the French Revolution. It wasn’t like our American Revolution as there was a lot of violence. It also led to a French dictator to come to power. Obama doesn’t have to worry that he will share the same fate is Louie, but he does have to worry that Americans will not vote for him in 2012, as we will have had enough of his arrangance to take lavish trips and spend money on his own personal pleasure and that of his wife.
I just hope he is retired in 2012. He can go back to being a private citizen, plan his library, write a book about his time as President, and get payed lots of money speaking around the country like Bush and Clinton, Bush, Carter. He can go back to Hawaii if he wants or back to Chicago. I keep hoping that the Democrats will put up a challenger to Obama and that 2012 the People will have a choice between a new Democrat and a new Republican. This nation can’t afford four more years of Obama.
