I know as Catholics we are taught that we will not know the day or the hour that Jesus comes again. Many times the so called Christians who say they know the exact time of Jesus’s return are wrong.
We have so called Christians like this Harold person and Pat Robertson who give real Christians a bad name and make us who really believe and try to live by the teachings of Christ a joke.
While it is true many on the right Wing like my mom do not like Obama and say some of the most crazy and insane things about him, I think that their fear is more than just the fact that Obama is half black. I think their fear and hate toward Liberals and Progressives is a continuation of the struggle between Americans who have such different views. Even when the Founding Fathers were still alive there were two very different visions for this government. The Federalists like John Adams wanted a strong federal government and were in the Federalist party. Thomas Jefferson and the men of the South wanted all the power to be with the states and were in the Republican Party. James Madison who wrote with Hamilton the Federalist Papers changed his views to the Republican view of States having more power than a centeralized government.
Today we have Progressives/Liberals who believe in a strong central government much like Adams, Hamilton and the other Federalists of the North. The Republican Party today like back when Jefferson, Madison and many in the South still believe that States rights should be stronger than a federal centralized government. I think that is why so many Republicans are joining with the teaparty protests. All these years later Americans are still fighting over what role a federal government should play in our government.
I am sorry to see that their anger of what is going on with the corruption of our political process which even Progressives know is happening to be channeled in hate instead of constructive ways. I think most Americans know something is wrong but I think many people don’t know exactly what is wrong and what to do to fix it. I know Progressives who are angry and frustrated because they see the problems only getting worst.
We are living in interesting times. We are living in dangerous times. We are living at the brink of of the cliff and could go off at any time. I was talking to a fellow Progressive last night and she was saying that all of the government is corrupted and that no one who serves in our government is honest and doing what is best for the American people. Her thoughts were what can won do to change things. I on the other hand say we must FIGHT!!!!!! That to do nothing is to surrender and that I would rather die FIGHTING than to just give up without even trying. Yes, the hour glass may have become empty, but I think that we as Americans need to keep trying. ONE MUST NEVER JUST GIVE UP BUT KEEP TRYING. I have always believed that if you get knocked down you pick yourself up without crying and whining and get back into the ring.
I pray for my nation everynight. I believe that we as Christians and Catholics must pray for our government. I pray that God will forgive us our sins as a nation that we have committed such as torture, and that He would save us and deliver us from the evil corruption that seems to be so intertwined in our government, and that we the American people will do the right thing so that once again we are a nation that is a light of good in the world. A nation where we are known to fight for the values of truth, justice, freedom, hope, eqality, and honor.
