My New Year Thoughts

Happy New year!!!  I am feeling that 2010 will be a better year for everyone.

I found this quote in a book that I am reading about John Adams.  I really like John Adams.  I can relate to his New England Yankee ways.  His passion and fire combined with his honesty I think make him misunderstood by people who didn’t take the time to really get to know him.  Of course being from Massachusetts gives him that New England spirit.

“Our obligation to our country never ceases but with our lives.” – John Adams-

That quote really spoke to me and I put it in the book that I have quotes that really inspire me and give me the courage to fight on.  We all have different battles in our lives that we must fight.  Some will be personal like trying to loose weight and finding the self control to not use food to deal with the stresses of life.  I know that is one of my personal battles.  Other battles we may have to fight are battles to protect the United States and to keep us safe and free.  Some battles may be environmental in stopping the evil of Mountaintop Removal Mining.  Let us hope that 2010 will be the year that no longer in the United States that we are blowing up Mountains that are part of our nations history and treasure.

I love the United States of America.  We have a wonderful history.  We were a brave people who were willing to fight for freedom.  We believed that all men had the right to pursue happiness and were created equal under the eyes of God.  Our Founding Fathers had the courage to fight for what they felt was good for this country.  Our own fathers were willing to fight to keep this country safe and free.  They thought about future generations and had a true and loyal heart and love toward this country.

I look at America now and I want to weep!!!!!!  I feel like we have dropped the ball and are letting future generations of Americans down.  What world are we leaving them?  We are leaving them not much of a bright future.  If we don’t step up to the plate as adults who are now the ones responsible for keeping the United States safe, free, and a moral nation and start to fight with all we have; than they will have every right to hate us and curse us as a generation.

I keep praying that Americans will wake up and start seeing that we must be willing to fight for this nation against all enemies foreign and domestic who seek to destroy the United States of America.  I meant that oath that as a Daughter of the American Revolution I said while looking at the American flag with my hand over my heart.  I may not be NSDAR anymore but I am and will always be a Daughter of the American Revolution who I feel has a duty to fight.  Who knows maybe I will start a new group for Daughters who are more political and feel that we as daughters need to take an active role in fighting those who would seek to destroy the Union.  We have the blood running through our veins of great men and women who fought to even have a nation.  We must be willing to fight with all we have to keep anyone who by their actions or vision is seeking to destroy this government.  Maybe my group will be called PDAR (Political Daughters of the American Revolution).  I am feeling that this year is going to be a turning point for me not only in my personal life but in that fight that I am fighting.

I wish everyone a wonderful new year and may you be encouraged and inspired to move forward in life and not be held back.  I know that is what I intend to do.  I also hope that we have the courage to take those steps forward to achieve that goals we want to achieve.  Rather it is personal goals like loosing weight as well as moral battles that we must start fighting today.  We can’t put off fighting on certain issues that are facing this nation.  We must have the moral courage that earlier generations of Americans and not be afraid to stand up and fight for the moral imperatives.

Here is a quote that always moves me to fight for the moral imperatives that must be fought. I hope it will inspire others to pick up the torch of our fathers to start fighting as they did when they were at the helm of this nation to keep this us free, safe, and a beacon of light and hope in the world.  A nation where we give others hope.  A nation where justice and truth walk hand in hand.  A nation where torture will never used again. A government who doesn’t sell this nation down the river for their greed.  A nation thinks about the world we are leaving future generations and will stop such evil practices as mountaintop removal mining.

We have a choice to fight when it is a moral imperative or to do nothing and close our eyes and say it isn’t my problem.  The truth is that it is all of our problems.  We all will have to pay the price if we continue to ignore and make excuses why we won’t join the fight.  It is time to stop making excuses and pick up the torch and fight for the nation that our fathers loved and by their blood, sweat, tears and in some cases their lives.  Now is the time to remember the values this nation was founded on and start fighting those who by their actions and vision seek to destroy this nation.    We have a duty not only to our ancestors who walked before us but to the generations of Americans coming after us.  We are at a crossroads.  The future of this country depends on what we as Americans do today.

” The hottest places in Hell are reserved for those who in time of moral crisis preserve their neutrality. -Dante-

We must as Americans have the same courage to fight to preserve this nation as John Adams and all the founding fathers and mothers who were not afraid to fight !!

Spoken like a true patriot, in fact some may consider that to be nationalistic……….
