Children Need a Strong Climate Bill

Target: U.S. Senate
Sponsored by: Care2

The Senate will soon begin debating the American Clean Energy and Security Act — the comprehensive climate change bill passed by the House earlier this year. This bill is critical for the future of our planet — and for the well-being of our children and grandchildren.

A just-released report from the United Nations Environment Program said that without prompt action, sea levels could rise as much as 2 meters by 2100. Put another way, our current inaction will cause irreparable damage to the planet in the lives of today’s children.

Indeed, children even experience the effects of climate change more dramatically than adults, since their physical and psychological health is not as fully developed. Change in living conditions, loss of food sources and more prevalent disease will all affect children more dramatically.

Speak out for the future of our children! Urge your senators to pass a stronger version of the climate bill and do whatever we can now to ensure a safer planet for our children and grandchildren.

I signed and hope you will too.
