+FEAR
The only thing we have to fear is fear itself – nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance.
+Martin Luther
A man’s doubts and fears are his worst enemies.

I received these quotes from one of my Catholic email groups. I thought I would take them and write my thoughts on overcoming fear.
All of us have some fears in our lives. I try and overcome my fears. I remember when I used to babysit in KS Melissa and Charlie were just learning how to swim. During the Summer I would take them to the Elks club pool. We had many fun times and the kids had a blast.
I saw them progress from the baby pool to the point that they would jump off the diving board into the big pool. At first Melissa was afraid to jump off the diving board even with her life vest on. I told her that I was afraid of heights which I am. I asked her if I overcame my fear of heights and went off the high dive into the pool if she would try and overcome her fear of just jumping off the diving board into my waiting arms? She said yes and off I went to keep my word.
My heart was beating and I didn’t like it but I forced myself to walk to the end of that board and jumped off into the pool.I did it!!!! I overcame my fear of heights to do what needed to be done. Then it was Melissa’s turn. She overcame her fears too. That day we both overcame our fears.
We all have fears but the people who are brave and have courage have learned to master their fears and overcome them for the greater good.
Maybe someone has the fear of public speaking? Maybe someone has the fear of spiders or snakes? Maybe someone has a fear of the past. Whatever our fears are we can overcome them them.
I believe in prayer and I believe that God has helped me overcome my fears.
