This came from on of my Catholic Email groups. I hope it will bless you. I look forward to my prayer hour with the Lord and praying my rosary everyday.
Today we are going to discuss on how praying alone is very important
in the life of a Christian especially Catholics who pray the Rosary everyday. So let sit back and glance through the little way of
Blessed Francisco Marto if it can help us to improve in our prayer
life. This is the 29th episode of our discussion on the life of Blessed Francisco Marto, and may God
continue to bless you as you read and reflect in the life of this
powerful devotee of Our Lady A–men.
PRAYING ALONE.
Francisco– Lucia comments– was a boy of few words. Whenever he
prayed or offered sacrifice, he preferred to go apart and hide, even
from Jacinta and myself. Quite often, we surprised him hidden behind
a wall or a clump of blackberry bushes, whither he had ingeniously
slipped away to kneel and pray, or “think”, as he said, of Our Lord,
who is sad on account of so many sins. If I asked him:
Francisco, why don’t you tell me to pray with you, and Jacinta too?
I prefer praying by myself- he answered- so that I can console Our
Lord, who is so sad!
On one occasion the little shepherd withdrew from them to pray. As
it was getting late, Lucia and Jacinta went in search of him, but in
vain. They called out to him, but he did not respond. Finally they
found him prostrate on the ground behind a stone wall. His cousin
touched him on the shoulder, then shook him and asked:
“What are you doing?” As if awakening from a long sleep, the boy
replied: -I began to say the prayer of the Angel, and then I started
thinking. Didn’t you hear Jacinta call you?
-No, I don’t hear anything.
Absorbed in ecstatic contemplation, he was far removed from the
things of this world.
Senders Note: Prayer is a serious business. Some of us use to leave
their handset on, while praying to God, and some even answer calls
from friends during prayer time. There is no way you can serve two
masters at once. You should either love one or hate the other.
There are so many things we do during prayer time which are not
supposed to be done during that hour. Prayer time is a serious
business time. Let us learn how to be serious with God in all things
so that God in turn will be serious with us. And may this little way
of Blessed Francisco Marto change our life for better through Christ
Our Lord A—-men.
