Every 6 months or so my fibro really flares up. The pain just shoots through you and you feel like you have been hit by a train. This flare up started a week ago. I just have to ride it out.
I am trying natural healing and I am having a problem finding the vitimins and herbs listed in the book. CVS doesn’t have a lot of the stuff listed in the book that says will help people who suffer from Fibro.
I am wondering if a health food store would have the listed herbs and vitimins. I have started drinking more green tea and less coke. Green tea is supposed to detox of body of some of the harmful chemicals found in food today.
Anyway, I am in a lot of pain right now so I am going to go and try going to the hot tub to releive the pain. The heating pad seems to help. I posted this thinking that other Fibro sufferers would know of natural ways to deal with the pain of having a bad flare up.
When you go to the doctor they only want to give you strong pain pills. I did that with the oxycotton and the morphine patches and it just makes me sick and pale as a ghost and it keeps me doing the things I want to be doing.
I would be interested in hearing what others do who have fibro and what helps them.

Yes a local health food store should have a lot of (if not all of) the herbs and such that you need. If they don’t have them, they are usually willing to order them. Good luck, and I’m sorry to hear how badly you are feeling. My fibro isn’t very bad, so I can’t really give you advice. My mom has (had? I think it’s in remission now) bad fibro, but I’m not quite sure what all has helped her.
Comment by autoimmunelife January 8, 2009 @ 6:13 pmThank you for your nice comment and your get well wishes. I am sorry that you and your mom also suffer from fibro.
I got a good night’s sleep last night, and the pain doesn’t seem as bad today. The attacks seem to last a good week or so and then goes into remission.
The hot tub does help so I will go again today.
Best Wishes

I’ve been trying to think of helpful things: heat – as you found, alleve can be helpful, avoid sugar as much as possible, eat as healthy as possible, vit. b12 can help with energy levels (anytime, but especially while fatigued), and I’m still working on others that may help. Sleep is definitely useful, I’ve been prescribed amitryptiline (however it’s spelled) to take when I get into my phases where I’m not sleeping well it’s $4 at walmart, benadryl works too. Can’t think of anything else right now.
Comment by autoimmunelife January 9, 2009 @ 6:32 pmTry buying and taking a product called Sam-E It is a little pricy but is suppose to work. Also may want to try taking melatonin to sleep at night. Those 2 things may help. Also swimming or hot tub everyday.
Comment by Cheryl Hollister January 10, 2009 @ 3:06 pmThank you for the good comments Cheryl and Auto . I know stress is a trigger for the flare ups.
I have started taking the melatonin as it was one of the things that I did find in the CVS. Hot tub and heating pad also help somewhat. Just have to ride it through. I am beginning to like the Green Tea in the morning instead of coffee.
Best Wishes
