I remember one of the first books I was given as a child was a book about St. Francis and the animals. I really loved that book and kept it for many years.

Today is Sunday and another Sunday I didn’t go to mass. It has been a hard year in that I got disappointed again by all they meaness I see within our beloved Catholic Church. That is very sad to me. I got tired of being told that if I didn’t vote a certain way I was a bad Catholic who some within the church would like to deny communion to any Catholic who votes for any candidate who voted to keep abortion legal.

I guess I had reached the point of thinking why bother to attend church and go to mass when there are people in my church who would want to tar and feather me for not voting republican because they are the pro-life party. To be told that you are a democrat so you can’t be a good Catholic. I just didn’t feel like I was worshiping in a place where love dwells in the heart.

Next week I will go to confession and mass I tell myself and start going back to mass and hopefully find a church where I feel more comfortable in.
